IRISH TEACHER WHO OPPOSED GENDER IDEOLOGY JAILED ONCE AGAIN
Irish teacher Enoch Burke has been jailed once again for violating a court order prohibiting him from being on the grounds of Wilson’s Hospital School.
Burke’s troubles began last year after he opposed teaching transgenderism and gender ideology at the Church of Ireland school on the grounds of his religious beliefs.
According to Gript, Burke was sent to jail after the school sought a High Court Judge to order the teacher into prison for repeatedly returning to his former work place.
Burke was first jailed in Sept. 2022 and spent a total of over 100 days in prison for refusing to obey conditions imposed on him as a result of the dispute with his former employer.
The school argued that Burke’s presence at Wilson’s Hospital School was disruptive to students and staff causing “untold difficulties.”
Burke has since denied the allegations, saying that he has received a lot of support from students and staff members.
“I have conducted myself in a calm, measured, reasonable, and respectful manner in my conduct at the school, and my interaction with others at the school,” said Burke.
“These proceedings have been initiated against me because I took a stand on my religious belief, I stand by my actions in speaking up, and for the court to now ask me to pay something is punishing me for that religious belief.”
According to the High Court, Burke will remain in prison until he agrees to no longer breach the conditions placed upon him.
EU COUNCIL PRESIDENT UNDER FIRE OVER 22K EURO LUXURY WATCH
European Union Council President Charles Michel's extravagant tastes have come on social media after it was revealed that he’s on the market to purchase a €22,000 luxury watch.
While Michel's penchant for private jets has already raised eyebrows in Brussels, it has now emerged that he;s also into luxury timepieces. Recent reports suggest that he is on the hunt for a watch that carries a price tag of €22,000, a sum that stands in stark contrast to the financial struggles faced by many Europeans amid record inflation.
A watch expert, who has been closely monitoring Michel's horological preferences, identified several high-end brands that grace the EU President's wrist.
These include a Rolex, as revealed in an interview with "Brussels Signal," and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which boasts an estimated value ranging from €15,000 to €25,000.
The revelation of Michel's latest acquisition, an 18-carat yellow gold Ellipse Jumbo valued at €22,000, came as a surprise to the public. According to "Brussels Signal," the EU President was spotted perusing watch shops in the European capital, specifically in search of a vintage timepiece predating 1990.
Sources close to the situation disclosed that Michel had expressed interest in a 1970s antique by renowned luxury watchmaker Patek Philippe. The Ellipse Jumbo model in question was crafted from 18-carat yellow gold and carried a retail price of €22,000.
When questioned about Michel's extravagant tastes, a spokesperson for the European Council declined to comment, citing their focus on the upcoming G20 summit.
MELONI CRACKS DOWN ON YOUTH DELINQUENCY, IMMORALITY
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has taken a significant step forward with the introduction of the "Cavaiano Decree," aimed at addressing juvenile delinquency and the erosion of moral values.
The Italian leader, who had been accused of being hamstrung by European regulations on immigration, appears to be stepping up to the plate on this issue.
Last week, she visited Cavaiano, a suburb near Naples infamous for its association with the Camorra and a recent horrifying incident where two girls aged ten and eleven were gang-raped by other children.
The "Cavaiano Decree," named symbolically after the troubled suburb, was unveiled during a press conference featuring several ministers.
One of the most significant provisions of the decree allows for the arrest of adolescents aged 14 to 18, marking a departure from the previous absence of legal regulations surrounding juvenile delinquency.
These young offenders can now be arrested for carrying bladed weapons, moreover, judges now have the authority to restrict their access to cell phones.
Notably, the government's initiative also extends holds parents accountable for their children's actions. Parents whose children skip school could now face prison sentences, a stark contrast to the previous penalty of a mere €30 fine.
Penalties for parents range from up to two years if the child drops out before the age of sixteen to one year if their absenteeism rate is high.
UK HOMEOWNERS COULD FACE JAIL FOR NOT COMPLYING WITH GREEN ENERGY LAW
The UK government's Energy Bill, which returned to parliament for itsthird reading this week, has stirred significant controversy by proposing criminal charges and hefty fines for UK businesses and homeowners who fail to meet green energy regulations.
Critics argue that these measures represent an overreach of state power in the name of Net Zero carbon emissions targets.
Under the proposed legislation, individuals could face imprisonment for up to a year or fines of £15,000 if they do not comply with the stringent energy efficiency requirements outlined in the bill.
This marks the first instance of criminal charges being introduced for non-compliance with measures aimed at reducing the nation's carbon footprint.
One particularly contentious provision of the bill stipulates that household appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and heat pumps must be equipped with smart features enabling remote control by "any load controller."
In practice, this means that the National Grid, responsible for overseeing the majority of electricity transmission and distribution in Britain, would have the capability to regulate these devices remotely.
The Energy Bill has sparked outrage among some Conservative MPs, with accusations that it represents an extreme manifestation of the government's commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.
SWEDISH GOV WANTS TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR UNIVERSITIES TO EXPEL CRITICAL STUDENTS
A debate is raging in Sweden as the government considers amending laws governing student suspensions within universities, following a contentious incident involving a journalist who was critical of an anti-white course.
Journalist Christian Peterson enrolled in a course on critical whiteness studies in order to expose the nature of the content.
He signed up for the course taught by Swedish academic Tobias Hübinette, who some have labelled left-wing extremist. In response to Peterson's presence in the class, Hübinette applied for a restraining order against the journalist, aiming to evade scrutiny. However, this request was denied by authorities.
Hübinette has since taken sick leave from his tax-funded professional role as a researcher, opting to engage in blogging and media appearances instead of working within the university environment.
Karlstad University, where the course is held, declined to suspend Peterson, citing the absence of any rule violations on his part. Currently, the law requires factual reasons for student suspension, such as rule-breaking, cheating, plagiarism, criminal activities, or disorderly conduct.
However, Swedish Minister of Education Mats Persson has proposed changes to the existing legislation, arguing that it is outdated. Under the proposed "modernized" legislation, universities would have the authority to suspend students if their management deems it "inappropriate" for the student to continue studying, regardless of any rule violations.
