#37: EU SAYS ANDREW TATE IS "MORE HARMFUL" THAN INCEL SHOOTERS
Macron secretly takes off luxury watch + CNN says you're racist if you share black memes + gender critic mobbed in New Zealand + MORE!
A report commissioned by the European Parliament’s Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs alleges that controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate and his ideas pose a threat to women and girls.
The study titled The impact of the use of social media on women and girls delves into “neo-masculinist” movements.
“Although incels or involuntary celibates have received the most media attention due to a number of high-profile mass killings in the US, Canada, Germany and the UK, the more mainstream neo-masculinist influencers and groups are arguably more harmful in terms of their reach and impact,” the report claims.
“Before his arrest by Romanian authorities, TikTok influencer Andrew Tate’s videos were watched more than 12 billion times. The mainstreaming and normalisation of male-supremacist misogyny among youth thus poses a significant and urgent threat to women and girls on social media.”
The report alleges that “much of the misogyny experienced by women online originates in the manosphere.”
“Although they differ on a number of issues, the disparate strands of the manosphere share a common belief that the current ‘liberal’ world order is biased toward women and disadvantages men,” reads the report.
“This uniting philosophy posits that men need to become enlightened to feminism’s gynocentric conspiracy and to regain male sovereignty through the assertion of alpha masculinity and the subordination of women.”
MACRON SECRETLY TAKES OFF LUXURY WATCH MID-INTERVIEW
French President Emmanuel Macron is being accused of secretly taking off a luxury watch mid-interview as protests against his government’s pension reform continue to rock the country.
The president's recent interview on national television has elicited backlash, with some accusing him of ignoring the public’s concerns.
Adding fuel to the fire, critics are now claiming that the president removed an $80,000 luxury watch while speaking to a reporter. Some have argued that the watch was priced under $3,000.
Videos show the president discreetly removing the watch while his hands are under the table.
In response to the allegations, his office has said that Macron removed the time piece because it was “clunking on the table.”
CNN SAYS YOU’RE RACIST IF YOU USE BLACK MEMES
CNN is facing social media backlash over an article accusing people of practicing “digital blackface” when using GIFs or memes featuring black people.
Sharing a meme means you “may have inadvertently perpetuated one of the most insidious forms of contemporary racism,” alleges CNN.
“(It’s) a practice where White people co-opt online expressions of black imagery, slang, catchphrases or culture to convey comic relief or express emotions,” claims the article.
“No matter how brief the performance or playful the intent, summoning black images to play types means pirouetting on over 150 years of American blackface tradition.”
Examples included memes of a crying Michael Jordan and other well-known formats.
WOKE SCHOOL CANCELS “INSENSITIVE” EASTER AFTER COMPLAINT
An Austrian school cancelled Easter celebrations after a parent complained about seasonal decorations in the classroom.
A teacher was reprimanded for “Christian fundamentalism” after putting up Easter decorations and planning a trip to a market for her classroom.
One father complained that their child was “very disturbed” by the decorations and said an Easter market trip was “completely unreasonable.”
“We will therefore leave our child at home for the time being,” the letter claimed.
According to the school’s principle, the teacher had “acted insensitively” and must remove the decorations immediately.
MOB ATTACKS TRANS CRITIC IN NEW ZEALAND
While on a tour in New Zealand, gender critic Kellie-Jay Keen had to be escorted by security due to threats to her safety.
Protesters lunged at Keen as she was leaving a rally in Auckland on Saturday.
“I genuinely thought if I fell to the floor I would never get up again, my children would lose their mother and my husband would lose his wife,” she wrote on Twitter.
“My security save my life today, no words can express my gratitude.”
Famed writer J K Rowling commented on the incident calling it “repellent.”
