STUDY FINDS LEFT-WINGERS MORE INTOLERANT TO OTHER VIEWS
A new European study found that people who identify as left-wing and who live in urban areas were less willing to accept the opinions of others when compared to their right-wing rural counterparts.
The study, carried out by the "Mercator Forum Migration and Democracy" in Dresden, Germany, found that the higher a persons income, education and identification with left-wing ideologies the less tolerant they are of other worldviews.
“Polarization was most pronounced for supporters of left-wing and green parties. Those who describe themselves politically as left-wing are significantly more likely on average to be polarized when compared to people who identify as right-wing,” the report reads.
On the other hand, people who have a conservative outlook or lower income and education levels were the most accepting.
The study's authors said the findings can illuminate the forces behind rising levels of political division and intolerance.
A polarization that is evident in many countries, from the United States to Germany, from Israel to Switzerland is making it to find political middle ground.
“We no longer support opponents with different opinions,” researchers wrote.
The study explains that this is because a certain worldview is not just seen as a political stance, but increasingly as part of personal identity. Therefore, many people view political disagreement as a personal attack.
WORLD WON’T END IF IT WARMS BY 1.5 DEGREES SAYS UN’S NEW CLIMATE HEAD
The United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) new head Jim Skea told German media that the world wont end because it’s 1.5 degrees warmer and that climate hysteria was not helping when it came to bringing attention to the issue.
Ske told the outlet Der Spiegel and DPA that constant messages of doom and extinction does more harm than good.
"We should not despair and fall into a state of shock,” said Skea.
"If you constantly communicate the message that we are all doomed to extinction, then that paralyzes people and prevents them from taking the necessary steps to get a grip on climate change.”
Skea’s comments were targeted at people putting too much emphasis on the UN’s target of lowering the global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius when compared to pre-industrial levels.
"The world won't end if it warms by more than 1.5 degrees,” said Skea.
According to him, while it’s not a world-ending scenario there will be real tangible effects.
FINES AND FLEEING DONORS BANKRUPTING CLIMATE ACTIVISTS
As major airlines like Lufthansa Group seek to file lawsuits against Germany’s “Last Generation” radicals who delayed or cancelled flight by gluing themselves to the tarmac, fines and fleeing donors threaten to bankrupt professional activist groups.
“Eurowings intends – like all other affected airlines in the Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings) – to assert claims for damages,” said a Eurowings spokesperson recently.
Additionally, recent nationwide raids led to the freezing of nearly 1.4 million euros in donations on the suspicion that it was funds used to support a criminal organization.
A total of 15 locations were raided in May across seven states “due to numerous criminal complaints from the population.”
Seven individuals are being suspected of “forming or supporting a criminal organization.”
Activists have taken to social media to beg for funding as major donors flee due to fears of being associated with such activities.
WOKE SWEDISH ARMED FORCES ENGINEERED AN “INDESTRUCTIBLE” PRIDE FLAG
The Swedish Armed Forces have engineered an “indestructible” pride flag made of reinforced steel ahead of a Pride Festival in the country.
Embedded with the official logo of the Swedish military, the flag was created from a piece of steel armour.
“Defending with a will of steel,” says a message written on the flag.
According to a spokesperson from the military, the symbol is meant to convey the force’s commitment to human rights and equity.
“It is more important than ever that we clearly take a stand for human rights and do everything to defend them. We think that the flag, made of armor – a durable and protective material – conveys a strong message not only to the LGBTQI community but to everyone in Sweden about where the Armed Forces stand when undemocratic winds sweep across the world,” said the Swedish Armed Froces marketing manager Johan Landeström.
“Our mission is to defend everyone's equal rights, and we want to convey that not least during Pride.”
