#28: EXPECT MEALWORMS TO APPEAR ON THE MENU SAYS GROCERY CHAIN
We will "eat mealworms in the future" + actor defends Andrew Tate + renters being evicted to make room for migrants + India's foreign minister calls George Soros "dangerous" + MORE!
WOULD YOU TRY THIS MEALWORM SALAD RECIPE?
Swedish grocery giant ICA is encouraging people to try its “insect salad with chili, garlic and roasted vegetables” recipe.
“Will we really eat mealworms in the future?” asks ICA.
“Given that they are both high in protein and environmentally friendly, we can probably expect them to appear on the menu when our eating habits have to be adapted to the climate and population,” the recipe continues.
“Here they get good company from roasted fennel, carrots and garlic in a warm salad.”
The mealworms are prepared with garlic, parsley, butter and chili, the recipe instructs.
“Peel and grate the garlic clove. Chop the parsley. Brown the butter in a frying pan, it should smell of nuts and turn light brown when ready. Mix the mealworms and garlic into the butter and stir. Remove the frying pan from the plate. Mix in chili flakes and parsley, season with salt and pepper.”
Unsurprisingly, Swedes were not too happy about the suggestion. The recipe received only 1.5 stars and featured a variety of nasty comments ranging from pure disgust to anger:
“So disgusting. Would never eat insects or worms/larvae,” wrote Eva-lena.
“As a lizardman and part of the elite, I really appreciate this delicious recipe. Nom nom nom! Oops, did I confirm all the conspiracy theories now?” wrote Simon.
ACTOR VINCENT CASSEL DEFENDS ANDREW TATE
French movie star Vincent Cassel warned in a recent interview with The Guardian that the larg-scale effeminization of men is a dire societal problem that will have consequences.
Cassel is best known among English-speakers for his roles in Ocean’s Twelve and Black Swan.
Ahead of his new role in the Apple TV+ spy series Liaison, Cassel discussed social media and Andrew Tate, among other controversial topics.
“It’s almost shameful to be masculine these days. You have to be more feminine, more vulnerable. But listen, if men become too vulnerable and feminine, I think there’s going to be a problem,” said Cassel.
Speaking about Tate - who currently had his imprisonment extended by Romanian authorities over sex trafficking allegations - Cassel said that buried within the philosophy Tate espouses are some necessary truths.
“There’s so many things he says, especially when you see his background that come across as really wrong,” said Cassel.
“But in the middle of that, I think, he’s saying stuff that is actually interesting because he wants to defend masculinity.”
40 RENTERS EVICTED TO MAKE ROOM FOR MIGRANTS
Renters in Lörrach, Germany woke up to some bad news this week after learning that their rental agreement will be terminated by the property owners to make room for incoming refugees and asylum seekers.
“As you know, Germany is facing a huge influx of refugees from Ukraine and other parts of the world,” the property owner writes.
“It is expected that by the end of the year or so the entire complex will be able to be used as a refugee home.”
The building is expected to house approximately 100 refugees, while the current tenants will need to find housing elsewhere.
"As far as you are concerned, this means that we will shortly be terminating the rental contract agreed with you,” the property owner wrote.
One tenant told the outlet Bild that they had only lived there for five months after waiting to acquire an apartment for three years.
“It’s a waste how we are being treated. We waited three years to get an apartment and we've only been living here for five months,” said the tenant.
INDIA’S FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER TAKES JABS AT GEORGE SOROS
India’s Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, took a shot at billionaire philanthropist George Soros for attempting to use his wealth to meddle in the politics of other countries.
Jaishankar was responding to recent statements Soros made calling for institutional reform in India.
“Very candidly, there are still people in the world who believe that their definitions, their perferences, their views must override everything else,” said Jasishankar.
Jaishankar also blasted Soros for claiming that India wanted to strip millions of Muslims of citizenship, which he called a “ridiculous suggestion.”
“Mr. Soros is an old rich opinionated person sitting in New York who still thinks that his views should determine how the entire world works. Now if I could only stop at old, rich and opinionated, I would put it away,” said Jaishankar.
“But he’s old, rich, opinionated and dangerous.”
EUROPEAN PUBLISHERS REFUSE TO CENSOR ROALD DAHL BOOKS
Unlike their UK counterparts, the French, Dutch and Norwegian publishers of Roald Dahl’s children books have refused to bow down to the woke mob and censor the beloved author’s books for the sake of political correctness.
According to Remix News, European publishers like De Fonte will not budge on the matter.
“Roald Dahl is the reason I came to work at this publishing house. His humor is second to none,” said De Fonte director Joris van de Leur.
“Fortunately, we have the freedom to see what that means for our translations. We will be careful not to detract from Dahl’s humor.”
Similarly, the French publishing house Gallimard has said it does not intend to change Dahl’s works.
“We have never changed Roald Dahl’s writings before, and we have no plans to do so today,” Gallimard said in a statement.
In Norway, Gyldendal Litteratur publishing manager Eva Thesen said the idea was “out of the question.”
“We are critical of the scope of the changes that are now intended for the British market,” said Thesen
“It is out of the question to include all the changes we now see discussed in the British media.”
