SWEDEN’S DRAG QUEEN POLITICIAN WHO READS TO KIDS
A Swedish politician has swapped his suit and tie for a dress and heels to support drag queen story time events in Stockholm.
Jan Jönsson, the deputy mayor of the capital city and a member of the Liberal Party, decided to dress up in drag after seeing conservative groups protest the events.
Jönsson said he wanted to take a stand against "populism and intolerance" and show his solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
He claims to have received help from Admira Thunderpussy, the winner of Drag Race Sverige, who taught him how to do his makeup, hair and posture.
He then joined a drag queen story hour at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, where he reads to children.
Jönsson shared a video of his performance on Twitter, saying:
"Fairy tales are not dangerous for children and neither are drag queens. In contrast, populism and intolerance have crushed the dreams of many individuals throughout history."
He also told Euronews that he was concerned about the movement trying to ban drag queen story hours in public libraries, as well as other forms of cultural expression.
HUNGARY STANDS WITH TRUMP SAYS FINANCE MINISTER
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has spoken out in support of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is facing a new indictment by federal prosecutors in Miami.
In an interview with Newsmax, Szijjártó praised Trump as "a true friend" of Hungary and criticized the "liberal mainstream" for targeting conservative leaders around the world.
Szijjártó said that Trump had a good chance at winning in 2024 but faces constant attack by the "liberal establishment" that uses "all kinds of tools" to undermine him, including the justice system.
"The situation is very similar in Europe, in case there's a conservative leader being strong, enjoying a good reputation, enjoying social support, then he or she is usually under attack of the liberal mainstream," Szijjártó said.
"And the liberal mainstream does not shy away from using all kinds of tools, and unfortunately, justice is usually one of these tools. So, we stand with President Trump, we cross our fingers for him, to be honest."
Szijjártó added that Trump had been a great ally of Hungary and had helped improve the bilateral relations between the two countries.
"Under his leadership, we had the best political relationship between the United States and Hungary. He is a true friend, and as a true friend, he can count on us in any kind of situation. That's for sure," Szijjártó said.
UK TEACHER HAS MELTDOWN WHEN STUDENTS QUESTION GENDER ORTHODOXY
A teacher at Rye College, East Sussex, has sparked controversy after allegedly calling two 13-year-old girls "despicable" for expressing gender-critical views in class.
According to a recording obtained by the Telegraph, the teacher scolded the girls for speaking out against gender ideology.
She said that their belief that "cis-gender is the norm" was "really despicable".
“Where did you get this idea from that there’s only two genders?” the teacher said in the recording.
“(That’s) not an opinion you can have”.
The girls also said that people with vaginas are girls and people with penises are boys, and that someone who thinks otherwise is "genuinely unwell".
Reacting to the student’s comments, the teacher accused the girls of upsetting another student who identifies as non-binary and threatened to report them to senior staff.
“I’m reporting you to (senior staff), you need to have a proper educational conversation about equality, diversity and inclusion because I’m not having that expressed in my lesson.”
The teacher also told the girls that their parents would be "very sad" if they heard their views and suggested that they should go to another school if they did not agree with the school's policy.
Rye College has defended the teacher, citing its diversity and inclusion policy.
PRO-FAMILY PROTESTERS CLASH WITH PRIDE PARADE IN VIENNA
On June 17, 2023 along the Ringstrasse in Vienna, dueling protests clashed over the topic of gender ideology as the city had its annual Pride celebrations.
Vienna has seen various demonstrations in opposition to drag queen story times in recent months.
Not everyone was supportive of the Rainbow Parade. A group of conservative and Catholic activists organized a counter-demonstration at Stephansplatz called "March for the Family".
Among the complaints were the sexualization of kids and gender ideology in schools, among other issues.
The two demonstrations clashed near Rathausplatz, where the Rainbow Parade started and ended.
Some of the Pride protesters threw eggs and other objects at the family rights activists, who responded with chants and slogans.
Police were nearby and intervened to prevent further escalation and violence. Some of the counter-protesters were arrested for disturbing public order and assaulting police officers.
